Daily Graphics Assistant

Graphics Assistant – BBC Casualty (2024)

1.

Episode 6 - Freefall

I initially created this in Procreate on an iPad, then transferred it into Adobe Illustrator to turn it into a vector image and to create the envelope text.

2.

Episode 7 - Out of Time

I created the butterfly design in Procreate, utilising layers and gradient colours.

In the same episode, I was asked to recreate a mortgage deed design. I had never seen one before, and needed to research the design to ensure viewers would recognise the visual storytelling. I used Adobe Illustrator and fonts to create the badges and cleared text.

Mobile Graphics

I used Adobe Xd to create mobile UI’s, some were then transferred into Adobe After Effects to animate. Each one needed the correct resolution to fit to the prop digital device. My favourite were a selection of music player UI’s that unfortunately found the cutting room floor…

I certainly found a new love for using Adobe Xd and After Effects to create mobile UI's.

Apps

Adobe Xd & After Effects

My important factors when creating graphics for devices:

  • Screen resolution
  • Visual storytelling
  • Believability (there’s nothing worse than being ripped from the immersion because of a bad graphic!)
  • Timing (if animated)
  • Type of device

Let's work together...

I truly enjoy the entire creative process to bring a design from brief to print. Working with other key members in the Art Department developed my understanding on how to create captivating visual stories.

I am keen to continue to work in this industry, if you are seeking a creative graphics assistant, please get in touch.
